LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Lufkin woman who kicked a 5-year-old boy in the chest during a 2011 altercation found herself back in jail Wednesday because she violated the conditions of her probation.
Versia Darcel is still being held in the Angelina County Jail on two motion to adjudicate guilt charges for injury to a child with intent to cause bodily injury and assault causing bodily injury to a family member. No bail has been set at this time.
Dustin Fore, a supervisor with Angelina County's Adult Probation Department, said that Walker's probation officer filed a violation report with the District Attorney's Office. Fore said that Walker failed numerous drug tests, refused to take drug tests, and failed to complete her substance abuse treatment.
Walker's other probation violations include failing to report, failure to maintain employment, and failure to pay toward her court-ordered fees.
"Her officer attempted to address her violations with an additional term for incarceration in an Intermediate Sanctions Facility, but she failed to report to the jail to be transported to the facility," Fore said.
In January 2012, Walker pleaded no contest to felony charges of injury to a child and assault and accepted a plea bargain deal of two, 2-year probation terms.
According to the arrest report, the boy and witnesses reported to a Lufkin Police officer that Walker instigated an altercation with woman outside a residence on Lark Street.
The officer learned that during the altercation, Walker attempted to punch the other female. The other adult took hold of Walker, according to the report. Witnesses and the victim stated that while the other female was holding Walker, the child approached the altercation and Walker intentionally kicked him in the chest, sending him several feet backwards.
