Crockett Fire and Police Departments teaming up to honor former chief

Posted: Updated:
CROCKETT, TX (KTRE) -

Crockett firefighters and the police department are together fighting cancer.

Firefighters and officers plan to form the "guns and hoses" team to participate in the relay for life event coming up in May.

The event will be held in Crockett and the team will honor the former Fire Chief David Williamson. Williamson was a member of the department for more than 20 years and died last July.

"Right now we have set up a team goal initial but are looking at raising the bar later on," Crockett Fire Chief John Angerstein said. "Right now our team goal is $2,000 between the two departments. We are trying to raise $1,000 a piece."

The departments are planning several fundraising events and are looking for sponsors.

Donations will be accepted at both the fire station and police department.
