45 games, 710 days, one and a half seasons, that's how long it had been since the Grambling St. men's basketball team won a Division I basketball game. The streak ended Tuesday night in blowout fashion as the Tigers beat (8-14) Alcorn St. 95-80 at home.
A'Torri Shine was the high man with19 points. GSU (2-18, 1-10 Southwestern Athletic Conference) beat a Division I opponent for the first time since March. 3, 2012 when the Tigers beat Alabama A&M in the season finale.
Terry Rose poured in 18 pts, Antwan Scott scored 16 pts and grabbed 8 rebounds as Grambling shot 61% from the floor including 12 three pointers.
GSU had a 10 point lead at halftime. The win also snaps a 28 game SWAC losing streak. The Tigers will try to make it back to back wins when it goes on the road to Texas Southern on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Lady Tigers suffered its second consecutive close loss as Denisha chambers missed a shot a buzzer. The GSU women loss 78-77 at home to Alcorn St.
