Leading hospitalist organization establishes position focused on clinical outcomes, physician development

TACOMA, Wash., Feb. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Sound Physicians, a leading hospitalist organization focused on driving improvements in quality, satisfaction and financial performance of inpatient healthcare delivery, appointed Scott Sears, M.D., FACP, as its chief clinical officer.

As chief clinical officer, Dr. Sears is responsible for clinical outcomes, clinical and physician policies, and physician training and development. Dr. Sears works directly with J.D. Fitz, M.D., FACP, senior vice president of physician development, and Mark Rudolph, M.D., SFHM, vice president of physician development for physician development initiatives.

Previously, Dr. Sears served as Sound Physicians' regional chief medical officer, where he provided organizational leadership, clinical operations and hospitalist program development for Sound Physicians' hospitalist practices in Washington, Montana, Alaska and Nevada. Dr. Sears also served as a faculty member of the American College of Physicians' National Quality Improvement Project, where he was responsible for aiding physicians across the country in developing and implementing quality improvement projects. Dr. Sears completed his medical degree, residency, and chief residency at the University of Washington School of Medicine.
