Lufkin Police officers arrested a Zavalla woman and her mother Tuesday after they allegedly tried to steal $60 of merchandise from the Lufkin Walmart and the daughter was found to be in possession of a controlled substance.

Nichole Fulfer, 24, is still being held in the Angelina County Jail on a state-jail felony charge of possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram and a Class B misdemeanor charge of theft of property between $50 and $500. Her bail has been set for $2,000 for the possession charge.

Carrie Mitchell, 44, was charged with Class B misdemeanor theft. She was released later Tuesday after she posted a $1,500 bail.

According to the police report, the alleged theft occurred at 2:24 p.m. Tuesday. The items the pair allegedly stole included a pair of Levi pants, Fingerprints fake nails, a No Boundaries shirt, Scunci barrettes, Scent Sensation Wax, and Hello Kitty cards.
