POLK COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Deputies with the Polk County Sheriff's Officearrested a 27-year-old Goodrich man on a sexual assault of a child charge inconnection to allegations that he molested a 14-year-old girl on numerousoccasions in the period from August 2012 to November 2013.
Phillip Clark Griffin is still being held in thePolk County Jail on a second-degree felony charge of sexual assault of a child.
A investigator with the Brazoria County ChildProtective Services office contacted a PCSO investigator in November, who toldthe investigator the 14-year-old girl had made an outcry to her mother thatGriffin had molested the girl at his home.
The affidavit stated that Griffin forced the girl toperform numerous sexual acts with him.
When the investigator interviewed Griffin on Feb. 6,he denied the allegations at first. Then, the investigator interviewed two of Griffin'srelatives. Both relatives said they confronted Griffin about the allegedmolestation, and that he admitted to the crime.
Griffin allegedly told one relative, "I'm sorry I didit. I don't know why it happened."
