Restaurant Reports: Several restaurants need some work after demerits issued

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -

In the latest round of health inspections, one restaurant was given the most serious violations.

Pho Saigon at 2655 Bill Owens Parkway had six violations in a February 11 inspection.

  • beef broth and chicken was held out of temperature . (thermometer)
  • peanut, sweet and sour and stir fry sauce were all held to warm. (thermometer)
  • salted fish held out of date. (danger)
  • a microwave was dirty and a food slicer was moldy. (unclean)

Total demerits : 23

In Tyler, two restaurants had less than stellar performance under inspection:

Jack in the Box #3805, 121 NNW Loop 323, Tyler   -    20 Demerits

Roman Delight Pizza and Pasta, 4601 S Broadway, Tyler – 15 Demerits   (0 demerits on a follow up inspection)

    During a Monday night special meeting, Nacogdoches Independent School District named Sandra Dowdy the lone finalist for the superintendent position. Dowdy has served as interim for the last several months. Per a press release from NISD, Dowdy was selected from a field of 45 applicants. A state mandated 21-day period must pass between the board naming her as the lone finalist and formally naming her as the next superintendent of Nacogdoches schools.
