LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A 33-year-old Diboll woman accepted a plea bargain deal of five years of probation Friday for driving drunk with two children under the age of 15 in the car with her when she was involved in a one-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 59 south of Diboll in January.
Kristina Michelle Ray, of Jacksonville, is still being held in the Angelina County Jail on state-jail felony charge of DWI with a child under the age of 15 in the car and a misdemeanor charge of driving while license invalid. No bail has been set for the DWI with child charge.
According to a DPS press release, Ray was driving south on Highway 59 when she left the roadway to the left and hit a guard rail at the Neches River Bridge at approximately 5 a.m., When DPS troopers arrived on the scene, they allegedly noticed that Ray exhibited multiple signs of intoxication. The release also said she admitted to drinking alcohol.
After Ray refused to take field sobriety tests, she was taken into custody. She was taken to a local hospital, where medical personnel obtained a blood sample from her.
Child Protective Services was notified, and the two boys, ages 7 and 8, that were in the vehicle with Ray were released into a family member's custody.
