Rally for Alfred Wright held in downtown Hemphill

Saturday community members, family and friends all gathered in downtown Hemphill to show their support for Alfred Wright.

Dozens of people rallied around the Sabine County courthouse Saturday afternoon holding signs and wearing shirts, many of them saying "Justice For Alfred".  Officials in the Sabine County Sheriff's Office say that no incidents led to an arrest at this rally. A business owner located on the square in Hemphill tells KLTV-7 that the rally appeared to be peaceful and that it did not disrupt anyone in the area.

Wright's body was found in November of last year in a wooded area in Sabine County. Officials suspect overdose as the reason for his death, but family members and friends think that Alfred Wright was murdered and that local law enforcement may have something to do with covering up this case.

The rally held Saturday comes on the same day that family members held a gathering at a church in Jasper. This gathering included community leaders, friends and family including Alfred's brother Savion, who recently returned from his recent appearance on American Idol.
