Police looking for two armed suspects who robbed Huntington Subway

HUNTINGTON, TX (KTRE) -

The Huntington Police are searching for two suspects who are wanted for robbing the Huntington Subway on U.S. 69 South Saturday night.

Huntington Police chief Bobby Epperly said a male subway employee was taking the trash out around 8:40 PM Saturday when he was confronted by two armed suspects, a female and a male.

Both suspects walked him back inside and the male suspect held him and another female employee near the freezer area while the female suspect asked the other female Subway employee to open the cash register.

A KTRE reporter went by the Subway Sunday afternoon to see if any of the employees working during the heist were there.

The 19-year-old employee who forced to open the cash register talked with the East Texas News off-camera and asked to remain unidentified.

She said that she's worked at the US 69 Subway in Huntington for four years and nothing like that has ever happened. She said the female suspect kept saying "I'm sorry I have to do this" and seemed very nervous.

The 19-year-old said both the suspects seemed very nervous and didn't appear to be skilled robbers, noting they were both shaking and nervous.

The Subway employee said the female suspect grabbed the money out of the register then asked for the code to the safe but when the employee told her she didn't know the code the suspect just took a bank money bag and yelled out "I've got the money babe, let's go."

The female Subway employee said it all happened in under three minutes and as soon as the suspects left she locked the door and yelled for the other employees to call the police.

The female Subway employee said the suspects never threatened to shoot them.

The suspects are described as follows:

A male 5'8" or 5'9", thin to medium build wearing a camo suit with a hood and a mask. He was wearing black gloves with a white or silver stripe across the top. He was armed with a black semi-automatic pistol.

The female is about 5'2", thin build, wearing a black hoodie with silver or write writing across the front. She was wearing a pink bandana to cover her mouth and nose. She had blonde hair, wore black skinny jeans, black boots and black gloves with pink on them. She was armed with a chrome plated semi-automatic pistol.

There were no customers inside the Subway at the time of the robbery and none of the employees were injured.

Epperly said the suspects got away with an undetermined amount of cash but the employees say they dropped some because they found several dollar bills outside.

Epperly said the employees did a good job staying calm and did exactly what they were told to do so nobody got hurt.

Epperly said he has been the Huntington Police Chief for three years and has never had an armed robbery.

The police are working on getting surveillance footage from the Subway.

If you have any information about his case call the Huntington Police Department at 936-422-4195 or the Angelina County Sheriff's Office at 936-634-3331.
