Power of Prayer: In His Image

The group all started when Regina Brown went to a 13th birthday party in her hometown of Jacksonville. She said the young teens were using foul language, behaving inappropriately, and talking about very adult things

Regina told us, "I was kind of disgusted. I was like, 'Wow, something has got to be done about this."

That's when she made a phone call to Dewanda Runnels and together, they founded "In His Image." It started with about a dozen girls who told the women what they wanted to talk about.

The topics hit close to the heart of the ministry. One of the girls involved was being bullied to the point of wanting to take her own life.

DeWanda Runnels said "We all came together here in the ministry, just let her talk some things out and let her speak out and I can see a happy little Trinity now. She's a very good girl."
"We grew up the same way they did. We grew up with dysfunctional families, mom and dad issues, we grew up with all of that but life gives us choices."

"In His Image" is also about creating young leaders, tasking them with taking ownership of becoming good citizens.

They're making an impact by reaching these young women, one by one, all through the Power of Prayer.

The girls who from "In His Image" do service projects, volunteering with the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce.
Its founders tell us the next step is creating a board and securing full non-profit status.
