CENTER, TX (KTRE) -

Investigators with the Center Police Department are seeking the public's help in finding the suspect in a stabbing that occurred during a brawl at a community soccer game near the town's football stadium Sunday afternoon.

According to a press release, officers from the Center Police Department responded to a 911 call about a fight in progress at a property located behind Center's Rough Rider Stadium. When the CPS officers arrived on the scene, they learned that Ciro Sandoval, of Center, had been stabbed during the fight.

Sandoval was later air-lifted to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport for treatment of his injuries.

The press release stated that the community soccer game was not on Center ISD property. Detective Stephen Stroud said that it was not a school-sanctioned event, and no Center ISD students were involved in the fight.

The suspect fled the scene on foot before officers arrived but was identified as Mauricio Figueroa Alvarez of Center and he is still at large. He has a tattoo on the right side of his chest.

Center Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information. Anyone who has information regarding this crime should call Center Crime Stoppers at 936-598-SAFE (7233) or submit a tip online at www.centercrimestoppers.com. Remember you don't have to give your name. All calls and cash rewards are completely anonymous. Rewards will only be paid on tips submitted through the Center Crime Stoppers system.
