Residents on east bank of St. John asked to conserve water

Updated:

RESERVE, LA -  Residents living on the east bank of St. John the Baptist parish are being asked to conserve water due to water leaks in two locations.  Parish officials say the leaks are signififant, and are asking people not to use water for non-essential uses until further notice.

Workers with the St. John Utilities Department are working on repairing the leaks as quickly as possible. While repairs are made, residents will experience lower-than-normal water pressure.

Parish leaders say It is critical that all residents in LaPlace, Reserve, Garyville, and Mount Airy begin conserving water immediately.  They ask residents to refrain from washing clothes, running dishwashers, watering lawns, washing vehicles, and all other activities that require using large quantities of water. Back-up water supply is in place and all towers are filled in the event of an emergency.

As conditions change, additional information will be provided. For more information or for water conservation tips please visit www.sjbparish.com or visit Channel 15.
