EAST TEXAS (KTRE) - UIL had a recent realignment of putting new districts together and there are already adjustments being made within those realignments.
Ennis was recently named to the same district as Lufkin and Nacogdoches, but there were major traveling concerns with Ennis being in the district.
Ennis appealed to be put in a different district. The motion was passed, for the most part.
All the athletic programs expect for football will compete in a different district.
Lufkin Athletic Director Todd Quick agreed this needed to happen for the sports that play primarily on school nights.
"It makes sense in what they're doing because in football you don't have the conflict that you have when you leave school for Friday night games," said Todd. "However, the sports that play twice a week, and would get home in the early morning hours after a night game, it's difficult to get those kids back at school the next day. Football doesn't conflict the same way."
The district will take into effect starting the 2014 football season.
