ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A Lufkin woman has been flown to a Longview hospital after a one-vehicle rollover crash Monday morning on Lufkin Avenue at Kye Street.
According to DPS Trooper Clint Henderson, Amber Terry, 31, of Lufkin was traveling westbound on Lufkin Avenue when she apparently lost control of her silver Nissan, ran into the ditch and rolled her vehicle.
Henderson and witnesses on the scene believe the car rolled at least three times before coming to rest on a nearby fence.
Terry was ejected from the vehicle presumably through the sunroof, said Henderson. Witnesses and first responders said she had a serious head wound, a laceration to her torso and possibly some broken bones .
Lenora Cowart lives on Kye Street and she said she heard something that sounded like thunder and ran to see what the commotion was. She saw the car rolling and ran to the car to see if the driver was okay.
Cowart said she was looking inside the car but didn't see anyone inside. That's when she saw Terry laying in the yard.
Cowart said she could tell the woman was in a lot of pain and wanted her to know that somebody was there with her until the police and EMS arrived.
Cowart's daughter, Cecilia Thorton says she's not surprised to see an accident happen on the curve there because she's seen many over the years.
