NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

Nacogdoches Police officers arrested a 30-year-old woman after she allegedly struck her 7-year-old daughter in the face hard enough to cause a nose bleed Monday afternoon.

Stacey Michelle Smith is still being held in the Nacogdoches County jail on a state-jail felony charge of injury to a child and a Class A misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest, search, or transport. No bail has been set at this time.

According to the police report, NPD officers responded to a 911 call about a 7-year-old girl at a residence in the 800 block of Mockingbird Lane bleeding from her nose. When the officers arrived on the scene, they learned that the girl had been struck in the nose by Smith, her mother.

The injury did not require medical treatment, and the child was released into the custody of Child Protective Services.

The police report said Smith resisted arrest before she was taken into custody and transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail.
