Sheriff: Perusing leads to find missing 15-year-old Nacogdoches girl

NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - The Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office is actively pursuing leads to find a missing 15-year-old girl.

Sheriff Jason Bridges said Nomei Velazquez was reported missing around 10 p.m. Monday.

Around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday night, Bridges stated they were looking into leads that Velazquez might be in the Lubbock, Texas area.

According to KCTV, a Kansas City television station, around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, an amber alert was issued by the Kansas Highway Patrol, after the missing teen's cell phone was last pinged around 8:30 p.m. on Interstate 35, in Lenexa, just outside of Kansas City.

Nomei Velazquez was last seen leaving school in Nacogdoches wearing a white blouse with blue jeans and black tennis shoes.

She is a Hispanic girl and she is about 5-foot-3 and has brown hair.

Bridges stated it is believed Nomei could be with Juan Fabian Arenas Delacruz. They are believed to be in a 2004 silver Volkswagen Passat with Texas plates DF7T507.
