SUN CITY, AZ (CBS5) -

A former Arizona couple visiting the Valley had a temporary delay in their return home when an unidentified woman jumped into their rental car and drove away with their belongings.

The man and woman were at a brother's home in the area of Union Hills and Palo Verde drives in Sun City and were loading the car to drive to the airport about 4:30 a.m. when the woman jumped into the driver's seat, said a Maricopa County Sheriff's Office spokesman.

The man jumped on the hood to try and stop the woman, but was thrown from the car as the suspect drove off, the spokesman said.

A second car believed to have been part of the robbery attempt also drove away, the spokesman said.

The rental car and the couple's belongings were found in the area of Bell Road and Del Webb Boulevard, the spokesman said.

The couple had just moved from Arizona for a new job, the spokesman said.

The spokesman said the couple didn't want to pursue charges.

No other information was immediately available.
