Today’s forecast: Early showers, turning colder

Updated:
NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Fox 8 Meteorologist Chris Franklin reports that heavy showers early this morning dropped and inch and a half to over two inches across much of the area, but the heaviest looks to be gone. Rain is expected to end by this afternoon. Though damp outside tonight, rain shouldn't be an issue for parades. Colder temperatures are on the move, and throughout much of the day, temperatures will remain in the 40s or near 50. If we factor in brisk winds from the north, it will feel more like the 30s!

Sunny skies are expected tomorrow with temperatures in the low 50s after a morning start near freezing north and upper 30s south. Highs will be in the 60s on Friday, 70s Saturday and near 80 degrees on Sunday. Rain returns with another upper disturbance for Lundi Gras and morning showers on Mardi Gras.
