Traffic stop on Nacogdoches' loop results in 1 arrest, seizure of 100 lbs of weed

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

Following a traffic stop on Loop 224 Wednesday, Nacogdoches Police officers arrested a 49-year-old Tennessee man for felony possession of marijuana and seized more than 100 pounds of marijuana.

Joseph Charles Hooper is still being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail on a felony possession of marijuana charge. No bail has been set at this time.

According to a press release, Nacogdoches Police Department officers stopped a 2014 Mazda SUV for a traffic violation in the 200 block of Northwest Loop 224. After the K-9 officer alerted on the vehicle, the officers found more than 100 pounds of plastic-wrapped marijuana in the SUV's cargo area.

Hooper was arrested at the scene and transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail.
