LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Warning: The video attached to this story is disturbing.

An auto-pedestrian accident on Lufkin's Timberland Drive Saturday evening resulted in the death of a 45-year-old man.

East Texas News obtained copies of a red-light camera video of the incident and the accident report Thursday morning. Kaandrea Carter, 45, of Lufkin, was killed in the accident.

The accident occurred in the 700 block of South Timberland Drive at approximately 6:53 p.m. Saturday. According to the accident report, a 2006 Nissan Murano driven by Hem Lal Alley, 45, of Lufkin, was heading south on Timberland Drive when the accident occurred in the left lane.

Carter was walking south on East Denman Avenue when he entered the cross walk at the intersection of Denman Ave. and Timberland Drive. He was struck by the Nissan Murano, and he was later air lifted to East Texas Center-Tyler for treatment of his injuries. Carter was pronounced dead at the hospital at 10:21 p.m. Saturday.

According to the accident report, Alley told the responding Lufkin Police officers that he never saw Carter before his vehicle struck the man.

The video showed Carter walk in to the path of the oncoming Nissan Murano, get struck, and flipped upward toward the vehicle's front windshield before he disappeared from view. Alley had a green light, and Carter attempted to cross the street with the "do not walk" signal lit. In addition, Alley did not have his head lights on when the accident occurred.
