A felon wanted for armed robbery in Ohio was arrested peacefully by Buckeye SWAT officers Wednesday after a standoff with police.

Samuel Culver, 53, considered armed and dangerous, was found in the attic of a home in the area of 193rd Dr. and W. Jefferson St. after officers tried to negotiate with him by phone to surrender.

Police were dispatched to the home shortly after 4:30 p.m. to investigate a suspicious vehicle.

An officer found the vehicle and encountered Culver. When the man went inside to get the owner of the car, police conducted a records check and discovered that Culver had the two felony warrants for his arrest.

The officer tried to get Culver to come out of the house but the man refused. Occupants in the home told officers that Culver had access to weapons.

A perimeter was established and Buckeye Police Department SWAT officers positioned themselves around the home.

Culver was eventually taken into custody and booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail to await extradition to Ohio.
