FLORENCE, AZ (CBS5) -

A 47-year-old undocumented immigrant's nervous behavior tipped off a Pinal County sheriff's deputy and landed him in jail on various drug charges.

David Castro-Espinoza was stopped in a 2011 Chevrolet sedan on Interstate 10 just outside Eloy for a traffic violation about 4:15 p.m. Monday, a Pinal County Sheriff's Office spokesman said.

Castro-Espinoza had a valid driver's license, but began acting nervously and said he was on his way to visit his son, but couldn't provide specific details, the spokesman said.

He gave the deputy permission to search his vehicle and the deputy found several bundles of black socks inside the vehicle's firewall, the spokesman said.

The sock bundles contained 5.8 pounds of methamphetamines and 3.7 pounds of cocaine, the spokesman said.

Castro-Espinoza was arrested for transportation of a dangerous drug and a narcotic drug, possession for sale of a dangerous drug and a narcotic drug and possession of a dangerous drug and a narcotic drug, the spokesman said.

The U.S. Border Patrol later confirmed Castro-Espinoza was in the country illegally and been previously deported to Mexico from the United States in 1998.
