Another blast of Arctic air will invade East Texas, sending temperatures down to freezing by Monday morning.
EAST TEXAS (KTRE) -
A very potent storm system will affect the Piney Woods of Deep East Texas this weekend as we get the month of March off to a roaring start as it comes in like a lion.
If you are making outdoor plans this weekend, Saturday will be the better of the two days to partake in those activities as showers and heavy thunderstorms will push their way in to Lufkin and Nacogdoches on Sunday afternoon and Sunday evening.
Some of these storms could become severe, capable of producing some small hail and damaging winds. As a result of this threat, there is a "slight" risk of severe weather for all of East Texas on Sunday.
Once the heavy rain and storms blow through, we will see another shot of Arctic air spill south through the Plains. This will lead to a huge drop in temperatures as we get next week underway. In fact, another freeze is possible for both next Monday and Tuesday mornings as a stiff north wind brings in another batch of cold air.
