PHOENIX (CBS5) -

An Arizona businessman has announced he's leaving the GOP race for Congressional District 1 to run in District 2.

Jim Brown said Friday that he's gotten to know candidate Gary Kiehne over the last month and said he's learned Kiehne is a "strong conservative with a background in business and serving the community" so he's backing him for Congressional District 1.

"It's clear to me that the voters of Arizona's First Congressional District have a great candidate in Gary Kiehne," Brown said in a statement Friday. "Therefore, I've made the decision to leave the race in CD1 and instead run in CD2 so that voters can unite behind Gary and take that seat back from Ann Kirkpatrick."
