Cattle take center stage Friday at Angelina Co. Youth Fair

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - There were some bigcompetitions Friday at the Angelina County Youth Fair.

It was all about the Steerand Heifer shows.

The showmanship categorywas open to both Steers and Heifers and after some careful judging, Central's DallasWilliford brought home the coveted belt buckle and says she is now putting herfocus on the Houston Livestock Show later in the month.

"I will work herevery day," Williford said. "I will practice leading and make her moreathletic."

Williford was a first timewinner in the event and the Steer competition also saw a first time winner.

Brylee Skelton of Lufkin had previously showngoats but moved up to cattle this year and in her first show won thelightweight Steer division.

"I'm kind of shaking right now," Skeltonsaid. "At first I thought I was going to get last place, because he pulled meout first."

The 2014 fair will wrap up Saturday with theTCCA Heifer show, bar-b-cue cook- off and animal auction.
