SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - When Allen Ray McKinney left his house on Feb. 21 to meet a friend, his family thought nothing of it. When he never returned they became worried.
"I said I was going to give him a whole day so I gave him until 6 o'clock and then I would call him so when I called him I got no answer," said McKinney's mother, Thelma McKinney.
Without any knowledge of who this friend was, they reached out to law enforcement and after a week of no contact, a missing person report was filed.
"What is puzzling to us is that there is no plausible explanation to his disappearance," said Chief Deputy Gary Cunningham. "It doesn't fit the classic profile."
All law enforcement knows right now is that in the first two days, McKinney pulled out money from an ATM in Lufkin as well as in Splendora and used his card a third time in Dickinson.
McKinney's phone was also used but has since been deactivated.
His family says as time grows longer, their worry increases.
"In the last few months, he has been showing that he might be coming depressed," said his niece, Tori Brazeal.
When McKinney left his home that Friday, his mother was never worried about him not returning home and that's what worries this family so much today.
"He has never left home and said I will be back on this particular day and not came back without a call," Brazeal said.
As they search for answers they also have a message for the person they call Ray.
"I love him and I want him to come home," his mother said.
McKinney was last seen driving a 1999 green four-door Ford Explorer with the license plate CRG0751.
