Some Region 8 restaurants 'whacko with deliveries' during severe weather

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - When severe winter weather hits Region 8 it can mean big business for restaurants that offer delivery service.

"It's been good for us," said general manager and co-owner of Jimmy John's in Jonesboro.

"Monday we did not deliver. We were not able to for the safety of our drivers. Tuesday, we started delivering again and it was just whacko with deliveries."

Park said his drivers were constantly in and out of the restaurant handling multiple orders.

"I think we were running at least five or six drivers just back and forth. They were taking three or four deliveries at a time."

Pizza Chef owner Brian Harvey said he usually has two employees who make deliveries, but Tuesday he worked himself into the rotation because of the weather.

"I don't deliver very often, but when it's this kind of weather, especially if it's far off and the roads hadn't been cleared at all, then I usually take my four-wheel drive."

Delivery times doubled as drivers maneuvered the roads.  Park said his customers did not seem to mind.

"We can usually get to most of our customers within five to 15 minutes, and it probably took us more between 20 and 40 minutes. But you know people definitely understand that and they were just happy to get their subs."
