NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A Nacogdoches County judge issued arrest warrants for a 44-year-old woman who allegedly shot a nearby vehicle after she got into an argument with her ex-husband back in January.
Schanda Latrice Handy, of Nacogdoches, was scheduled to appear in Judge Campbell Cox's 145th Judicial District Court Thursday.
Nacogdoches Police officers arrested Handy on Jan. 14 after she allegedly got into an argument with her ex-husband and shot a firearm round into a nearby vehicle. She was charged with two third-degree felonies - deadly conduct and unlawful possession of a firearm.
According to the police report, Nacogdoches Police officers responded to a disturbance at a trailer park on Linda Lane at approximately 12:16 a.m. Tuesday. The 911 caller reported gunshots.
The NPD officers took Handy into custody after they learned that she is a convicted felon.
In the summer of 2009, Handy was among four suspects arrested in connection to the capital murder of Lamont Kenyon Patton. In August 2009, Nacogdoches firefighters were called out to a car fire, and when they extinguished the fire, they found Patton's body in the trunk.
In October of 2010, Handy pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of aggravated assault with a deadly and received a probated sentence.
