Judge orders mental health evaluation for Fernando Richter

A judge ordered a mental health evaluation for the man accused of holding three sisters captive.

Attorneys for Fernando Richter were in court this morning. The judge granted their request for a mental health evaluation.

A hearing on those results is scheduled for June 9.

Both Richters are accused of holding three of Sophia's daughters captive inside homes in both Catalina and Tucson.  The two were arrested in November 2013, after two of the girls escaped and ran to a neighbor's home for help.

They face multiple charges of kidnapping and child abuse in Pima and Pinal Counties.  According to court records both have pleaded 'not guilty'.

Fernando Richter is also facing additional charges after allegedly assaulting a corrections officer in December 2013.
