LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Stephen Yates, the owner of a local radio station, was arrested again Tuesday after a Lufkin Police officer allegedly caught him speeding in the vicinity of Brentwood and Whitehouse drives.
Detective J.B. Smith, a spokesman for the Lufkin Police Department, confirmed that Yates was driving when his vehicle was stopped Tuesday.
Yates, 55, is in the process of being booked into the Angelina County Jail.
Joe Martin, an assistant district attorney with Polk County, said that a warrant was issued for Yates' arrest because he violated the conditions of his bond agreement. Yates was supposed to make a court appearance Monday in regard a motion to revoke his probation that was filed after an alleged domestic disturbance in November 2013.
Yates' troubled past with the law dates back to 1979. He is currently in the middle of a 10-year probation sentence which began in 2007 following his fourth DWI conviction out of Polk County.
Yates, 55, was arrested for violating his probation in April 2011, after he was caught driving a vehicle which did not have a breathalyzer in it. In May 2011, he was released on stricter conditions to his probation, which included surrendering his driver's license until his probation was over.
On Oct. 30, 2013, Yates was arrested after Lufkin police said he threw his girlfriend, Savanna Marberry, to the ground, pushed her, and grabbed her throat. He was released later that day after posting a $1,500 bail.
Yates is currently out on a $50,000 bail.
