NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Deputies with the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office arrested a 24-year-old Cleveland man Thursday after he allegedly drove recklessly in heavy traffic on U.S. Highway 59 at speeds of approximately 100 mph with his wife and 2-year-old son in the vehicle.
Troy Lance Caldwell is still being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail on a second-degree felony charge of endangering a child - imminent danger and a Class C misdemeanor charge of reckless or excessive speed.
According to the arrest affidavit, Caldwell was driving down Highway 59 at speeds of up to 100 mph. He allegedly ran several vehicles off the road and almost struck several vehicles, causing accidents. One of the accidents involved the unmarked sheriff's vehicle drive by Chief Stephen Godfrey of the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office.
Once the vehicle pulled to the shoulder, the vehicle almost lost control and slid sideways.
Caldwell was arrested at the scene and transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail.
