Man drowns while hog hunting in Houston Co.

HOUSTON COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

A man was found dead in a Big Slough river Sunday after he fell in the water while hog hunting on Saturday.

According to Houston County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy GP Shearer, two men were hunting in the Big Slough area when Jimmy Berry, 45, fell into the swift waters of the nearby Neches River around 2 p.m.

Deputies responded to the scene to meet with the other hunter and game wardens were called to the scene.

Other family and friends and volunteers also helped with the search Saturday.

The body was found around 1:45 p.m. Sunday.
