EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -

Those who are having trouble making ends meet have some help which could keep them out of the dark. The LITE-UP TEXAS program promises to live up to its name, helping those who qualify pay their power bill.

The Greater East Texas Community Action Program, PATH and TXU have joined forces to make sure everyone knows about the program. Families who are on Medicaid or SNAP which is the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, already pre-qualify for help.

"It's been a long winter. It's been very cold for a very long time. I think all of us are past ready for spring, but in addition to that it's going to be really hot very soon. So we want to make sure that our vulnerable populations receive assistance if in fact they do qualify," said Karen Swenson, Executive Director of Greater East Texas Community Action Program.
