VDOT, Police respond to hundreds of accidents across Central Va.

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

From midnight until 7 a.m. Tuesday, Virginia State Police responded to 247 vehicle crashes across Central Virginia. 

Here are a few of the incidents from overnight according to the VDOT--

- All lanes are closed along Route 288 in Chesterfield at the Powhite Parkway overpass due to a crash. Drivers are encouraged to use an alternate route. Drivers should expect delays.

-All lanes are currently closed in both directions at mm 221 in New Kent (just east of Rt. 33/West Point) due to multiple crashes in the area.

-All lanes are closed at I-64 near I-295 south in Henrico due to a crash. Drivers are encouraged to use an alternate route. Expect delays.

-Several lanes are closed at Temple Ave. in Colonial Heights (mm 54) due to a vehicle fire. Drivers are encouraged to use an alternate route. Expect delays.

-All eastbound lanes at Route 360 in Amelia have re-opened following to icy conditions at Grub Hill Church Road.

-All lanes are have reopened at Sycamore Square Drive near Midlothian Turnpike due to a crash.

Statewide, Virginia State Police has responded to 745 accidents.
