Sheriff: Woman shot during robbery, suspect wanted

Posted: Updated:
BOWIE COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - An East Texas woman was shot during a robbery late Monday night near Texarkana.

The Bowie County Sheriff's Office said deputies were dispatched to a shooting at the Triple J convenience store in the 4600 block of South Lake Drive around 10:29 p.m. Upon arrival, they met with a female store clerk who had been shot in the waist by an unidentified robbery suspect.

The clerk told deputies that a young black male wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and dark pants came in to the store asking to buy a cigar. The clerk went behind the counter to retrieve the cigar and then asked the male for his identification. When she looked up, he was holding a firearm in his hand.

The suspect told the clerk to open the drawer. As she began to open the drawer, the suspect shot her. The bullet passed through the left side of her waist. The suspect left the store on foot and has not yet been identified or located.

The clerk was taken to Christus St. Michael's Hospital in Texarkana to be treated for her injuries.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to contact Investigator Will Buttram at 903-628-6815 or Crime Stoppers at 903-793-STOP.
