SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Multiple fire departments are fighting a brush fire near a Smith County subdivision Tuesday afternoon.

Five brush trucks and four engines have been dispatched to a fire burning off of Sand Flat Road and Jim Hogg Road. This is near Copper Ridge Subdivision about two miles east of Lindale.

Homes in the subdivision were in danger at one point, but the fire is now under control. Firefighters were able to split the blaze into two separate fires and gain control over it.

Lindale, Dixie, Red Springs and Winona volunteer fire departments have units on scene at this time. The Smith County Fire Marshal's Office has also responded.
