Obama picks against South Carolina in annual women's bracket

Posted: Updated:
COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

While President Barack Obama continues to take heat from critics about his choice to fill out an NCAA men's and women's tournament bracket each year, South Carolina fans will have a different reason to be disappointed with the president.

That's because he doesn't have Dawn Staley's team in the Final Four this year.

Instead, Obama has selected UConn, Notre Dame, Stanford, and Louisville to make it to Nashville for the last two games of the season.

Also noticeably absent from the president's Final Four is Tennessee, the SEC Tournament champs and another traditional power in women's basketball.

The Gamecocks (27-4, 14-2 SEC) are beginning to come off the high of being selected as a No. 1 seed Monday night in the NCAA tournament selection show.

Staley's team will have little time to refocus their efforts as they will travel to Seattle to face Cal State Northridge on Sunday.
