TYLER COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

A 3-year-old boy died Tuesday after he fell into a water-filled hole that was being dug for a septic tank at a residence near Warren, according to Tyler County Sheriff Bryan Weatherford.

According to a press release, the Tyler County Sheriff's Office communications center received a 911 call about a 3-year-old boy that had fallen into a hole that was being dug for a septic tank at about 2:45 p.m. The caller said the little boy wasn't breathing and that family members where performing CPR.

"Investigators from the Tyler County Sheriff's Office processed the scene at the residence located off County Road 1325 in the warren area," Weatherford said in the press release. "At this time, it appears to have been a tragic accident. Investigators will wait on final autopsy results to complete the investigation. Standard in this type of case, child protective services investigators were notified."
EMS was notified as well, and they met the family at the Dollar General Store in Warren. From the EMS personnel transported the boy to the Tyler County Hospital. Justice of the Peace Trisher Ford pronounced the 3-year-old old boy dead at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Ford ordered an autopsy to be performed by the Southeast Forensic Center in Jefferson County.

The press release stated that family members explained that the hole they had dug for a septic tank had filled up with water during the recent rainfall. A family member was outside with the 2-year-old boy, and two other children, ages 1 and 2.

After the 1-year-old child was taken inside, the family member returned and found that the 3-year-old boy was missing. Family members later found the boy in the septic tank hole. They started performing CPR on him when they realized he wasn't breathing, the press release stated.

The press release stated that the name of the 2-year-old and his family members are not being released at this time because authorities are having trouble locating family members who live out of state.
