DPS: Trailer truck carrying bees overturns on US Hwy 69 S.

ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

A truck tractor semi-trailer transporting honey bees overturned on U.S. Highway 69 Thursday evening.

Lufkin DPS troopers responded to the scene around 6:30 p.m. on U.S. 69 South approximately three miles south of Lufkin.

DPS Spokesperson David Hendry stated the 2004 International truck was driven by Jeremy Kojetin, of Monticello, Minnesota, who was distracted in the vehicle and subsequently drove off the roadway, went into a ditch, and struck a utility pole.  An undetermined number of bee hives were damaged.

Remaining hives were being transferred to another vehicle, the remaining bees will be controlled by a local fire department using a foam solution.

No injuries were reported.

The driver was transporting the bees to Colmesneil, Texas.

The crash remains under investigation.
