Retaining wall one day, piece of art the next

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - A group of artists are taking over a 120-foot retaining wall in Longview.

Members of 'M-L-K', or 'moving the lives of kids', started a community mural project Saturday at Amberwood Place in Longview. Six local and national artists are leading a group of ten youth artists to get the mural done. They plan on painting the wall with history, culture and personalities, showing the diversity of Longview.

"To commemorate and remember that history is important and also to have kids working with adults, and there’s that inter-generational remembering," says executive artist Kyle Holbrook.

The artists will be out working on the mural for the next two Saturdays. They hope to have it finished by the first weekend in April.
