HUDSON, TX (KTRE) - Hudson police are investigating a severe head injury to a two-month-old baby girl reported Tuesday morning.
Chief Jimmy Casper said the baby's father and grandfather called 911 around 9 a.m. Tuesday, saying the baby had labored breathing and had quit breathing for a time.
Casper said it was determined the baby had a small bleed on the brain and was taken by helicopter from Lufkin Memorial Hospital to Texas Children's Hospital in Houston Tuesday afternoon.
Casper said the baby is now in stable condition and Child Protective Services has taken custody of the baby.
"We're investigating the causes and extent of the injuries," Casper said.
Casper said police have spoken with both parents of the baby and will be talking to them again. He also said he will go to the Houston hospital next Friday to take part in a team meeting with doctors and CPS as part of the investigation.
