LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - While Angelina County's February jobless numbers held steady at 5.6 percent compared to January, Nacogdoches County's unemployment numbers increased by a tenth of a percentage point, going from 5.6 percent in January to 5.7 percent in February.
Both counties' jobless numbers are down from the numbers posted in February 2013.
At the statewide level, the unemployment rate went from 5.8 percent in January to 5.9 percent in February. The jobless rate for the 12-county Deep East Texas Workforce Development Area held steady at 6.9 percent.
In Angelina County, the available workforce totaled 40,380 people. Of that number, 38,099 were employed in the month of February.
To the north, Nacogdoches County had an available workforce of 31,158 in February. That month, 29,380 people were employed.
Lufkin's jobless rate went up slightly, going from 5.7 percent in January to 5.8 percent in February. In February 2013, Lufkin posted a 6.3 percent unemployment rate.
The City of Nacogdoches held steady at an unemployment rate of 5.6 percent in February. Back in February 2013, the City of Nacogdoches had a 6.4 unemployment rate.
