Belt goes 3-for-5, homers in season opener

PHOENIX, Ariz. (KTRE) - Former Hudson Hornet Brandon Belt went 3-for-5 in the Giants' 9-8 season-opening win Monday night in Arizona.

Batting from the No. 2 spot in the lineup, Belt struck out in the first and third innings, hit a one-run home run in the sixth inning, singled in the seventh inning and singled in the ninth inning.

He is batting .600 after the first game of the season.

Belt also recorded a fielding error in the fourth inning.

The Giants continue their series against the Diamondbacks Tuesday night at 8:40 p.m.
