(WMC-TV) - WMC Action News 5 made it as easy as possible for you to get your severe weather and forecast alerts by simply shooting us a text message.

Here's how it works: If you want to sign up for a certain kind of text alert, like severe weather, text the keyword "WMCSEVERE" to the number 90105.

In doing so, you will be signed up to receive severe weather alert texts from WMC Action News 5.

A reminder - there are a few things you still have to visit the website for. If you want to sign up for email alerts, you have to visit http://www.wmctv.com/alerts and manage your account.  That's where you can *customize* exactly what kinds of alerts you're receiving. For school closings, type in your preferences for "School & Organization Closings," wait for your preference to appear, and click to select the one you want.

    From the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office:  Douglass area - Deputies are in the area searching for a white male who fled from deputies. Cherokee County had a pursuit that came into our county. The driver fled on foot just outside of Douglass on Highway 225 north. The subject ran through a cemetery and into a wooded area.
