Convicted drug dealer arrested on new charges

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A convicted drug dealer is back behind bars facing new charges.

Undercover police say they watched 58-year-old Calvin "Pops" Cook make a drug deal in the parking lot of the Walgreens at 3880 Dickerson Pike.

Police later stopped Cook and say he had 3.5 grams of heroin with him.

Investigators say Cook is suspected of selling pills and heroin from his home on Ocoee Trail and in parking lots around the area.

Cook is charged with heroin possession in a drug-free school zone, felony possession of heroin and methadone and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Cook was convicted last month of selling methadone from his home and received a three-year probated sentence.

He is being held on a $90,000 bond.
