Man dies after fight with teenage grandson

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A 52-year-old man's argument with his grandson ended when he took a blow to the head that ended his life.

Kenny Armstrong was pronounced dead outside of his apartment at 1005 Dimarco Drive April 4 after police were called on to the scene at about 9:27 p.m.

According to police, witnesses say Armstrong was in a verbal argument with his 14-year-old grandson that turned in to a physical fight. Witnesses say Armstrong started swinging at the 14-year-old before the teenager struck Armstrong once, causing him to fall and hit his head on the ground. Police believe the blow to the head killed Armstrong.

This investigation into this matter continues and the Jefferson Parish District Attorney's Office will be consulted. No charges have been filed against the 14 year-old at this time.

An autopsy will be performed by the JP Coroner's Office in order to determine the cause of death.
