LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A 30-year-old Broaddus man died early Sunday morning after his pickup veered off of Denman Ave. clipped two trees, collided with a third tree, and then wound up on its right side.
According to the Lufkin Police Department report, the wreck occurred at 5:18 a.m. Joshua Dexter Fillingim was driving east on Denman Ave. when his blue 1998 Ford Ranger pickup swerved across both oncoming lanes of traffic, clipped two trees, and struck a third tree head-on. The Ranger wound up on its right side on a side street.
The report stated that Fillingim was wearing his seatbelt when the accident occurred. In addition, his air bag deployed. According to the report, a blood sample has been sent off for a toxicology test.
