Alto Yellowjacket signs to play college basketball

ALTO, TX (KTRE) - One Alto Yellowjacket is taking his athletic talents to play at the collegiant level, as Zachris Sturns signed to play college basketball.

Sturns was accompanied by his family, and coaches as he signed to play with Cedar Valley College. Ceder Valley's coach was also there for Sturns' signing day.

Sturns says he has been playing basketball since he was a little kid, and playing at the next level is something he has always wanted to experience.

"It felt really good signing today. It's truly a blessing," said Sturns. "I want thank God for giving me the ability to be able to play as well as I do and go on to play at the next level."

Sturns' athletic ability gives his coach high expectations for his future.

"I think he can start there and take his talents to the next level," said Augustus Moore, Sturns' coach from Alto High School. "The sky is the limit for him. The only person that can stop him will be himself. He loves the game of basketball."

"I'm ready to see how the competition is going to be like. I know it's going to be different from high school and I'm ready to be a good competitor and take my skills to the next level," said Sturns.

Sturns proved to be an outstanding athlete for Alto as he was awarded the District's MVP, and has played on varsity all 4 years of his high school career.
