Restaurant Report Card: Chin Chin II

ATLANTA (CBS46) -

If you like to dine out, you'll love to know that some of Atlanta's most unique restaurants will now come to you.

This week CBS46's Adam Murphy highlighted the One Love Jerk Grill food truck that has received three perfect 100 health inspections in a row. They set up their truck in various locations around the city, but you can find them once a week at 12th Street and Peachtree Street in Midtown Atlanta.

Not every restaurant did well on their health inspection this week. CBS46 found a well-known Chinese restaurant with one of the lowest scores we've ever seen.

"Is it safe to eat here?" CBS46's Adam Murphy asked Chin Chin II management.

"Yes, but we just have some stuff that we need to get done and we're working on it right now," Chin Chin II manager Joe Chandra said.

Chin Chin II at 699 Ponce De Leon Ave. in Atlanta failed with only 37 points. Inspectors found old heads of cabbage and jalapeno peppers in the cooler. Plus, there was chopped beef on the prep table at an unsafe temperature and the report says there were rodent droppings in the dry storage area.

"Do you have a problem with rats?" Murphy asked.

"No, not at all ... I think it's a mistake," Chandra said.

The manager told us a pest control company services the restaurant and he took us into the kitchen to prove he doesn't have a problem with rodents.

"Have you ever seen rats here in this storage area?" Murphy asked.

"Everything is sealed. It's in pretty good condition for this building," Chandra said.

We didn't see rats, but we did see raw chicken sitting in the sink. Plus, management did not post their failing score of 37 for the public to see.

Chin Chin II received 87 points and a "B" on a reinspection on April 18, 2014.

Now to some good scores in metro Atlanta. In Gwinnett County, Wings n Philly Bistro at 4900 Peachtree Industrial Blvd. in Norcross scored 91 points and an "A." In Cherokee County, La Parrilla at 1810 Cumming Hwy. in Canton picked up a 92 and an "A." In DeKalb County, Cook Daddy's at 4805 Briarcliff Rd. in Atlanta received 100 points and an "A."
